NUNYA's first devlog, I'm working on a new demo.

Hello everyone!
This is my first devlog, so I'll just try to explain a little bit of what I've been doing.
First of all, NUNYA got 5th place in the overall cathegory in the Game Boy Competition 2023 !
And although I was already working to improve the game before knowing the results, this motivated me even more!

Right now while you can still play the old version on my itchio page, I'm working on a new demo that I hope to release very soon.

I've got a LOT of feedback since the first game jam entry and and been working on my free time trying to fix many broken stuff in the game and trying to implement stuff I wanted to include in the original entry but I couldn't because of how little time I had to work on back then (I started working on the game right in the middle of the competition time).

Alright, here's the first big change you will notice: NUNYA now has more colors!
I decided to use more color. Using just 4 colors originally allowed me to spend more time on other parts of the game development for the jam entry, but now that there's no deadline I can now create limited color palettes to add more life to the game.
I also decided to rework all the enemy and boss sprites, check out this comparison image.

I entirely reworked the Town area, there's new places to visit and new npcs to talk to.

Boss battles now have health bars, making it easier to now how close you are to defeat the boss.
I learned how to use Tile Swap , and this allowed me to add background animations  and made it easier to display UI elements using less actors per scene. ( also check out the new enemy sprites)

I added maps!
Levels are way larger now, so there's more stuff to explore now. Level design is something I've spent the most time working on. I got a lot of feedback from the original entry about it and I've been working on the first 3 levels for a new demo (Tutorial-Sewers, Catacoms, and Ruins).

There's new Bosses, enemies, traps and interacive elements in every level.
I'm working on most complex boss battles, more phases and attack patterns.
I like when there's interactive elements in boss battles that help you in the fight and wanted to add some of that to NUNYA
Check out these spike traps:

As you can see, there's still a lot of stuff to polish, I'm using my free time to work on this so bear with me, I'm trying to put everything together for a new demo, so stay tuned!
I mostly post random updates on my Twitter, so if you want you can also follow me there to get updates.

Thanks for reading!
